It’s finally time to embrace winter the best way we know how – boarding and partying in the best snow parks and villages around Europe. We take you through the festivals leading the charge to the best après and music to be had this snow season so let’s make haste.

Snowbombing

Mayrhofen, Austria

April 3-8 2017

snowbombing 2017

What are we talking?

Snowbombing is the mamma of all winter festivals and this season is shaping up to be one of the best yet. Home to the Vans Penken Park you can spend as much time as you like hitting kickers and nailing rails or you can take to the 650km of pistes up for exploring. Hit Europe’s steepest slope or take on the Hinterlux Glacier. With 5 days of epic events, music and boarding you’re spoiled for choice, and it’s all good. Every bit of the village and the mountain is worth checking out but this year’s festival is a force to be reckoned with, so take it all in and enjoy the frivolity.

This year’s line-up includes the likes of Chase and Status, Giggs, Slaves, De la Soul, Shy FX, Grandmaster flow and oh so much more. The beating heart of Snowbombing is its main venue and ravers’ paradise The Racket Club which prides itself on live sound, so be prepared to be blown away. From there it’s forest, to street, to arena to barn to any of the plethora of mad and magnificent venues and stages spread across the village. There’s something and somewhere to discover and explore everyday with music and activities to keep your head spinning around the clock.

Snowboxx returns to Avoriaz with yet another epic line-up of your favourite beats including live performances from Basement Jaxz, Wilkinson, Hannah Wants, Abode, High Contrast, Carnival Magnifico, A Skillz and a tonne of DJs to take over the après party all over the resort. With an incredible main stage, secret stage with talent unveiled at 2pm daily, igloo parties, singing bubble lifts and snow paintball – it’s a fast, colourful and loud ride from beginning to end.

All of your Avoriaz accommodation is bang on the piste so your board is your transport and what could be better than that? Well perhaps that fact that Avoriaz lies within the Portes du Soleol, one of the best connected snow and ski areas in the world with loads of parks, powder and pistes from novice to resident nutter – bring it on.

Polaris

Verbier, Switzerland

Dec 9-11 2016

polaris festival 2016

What are we talking?

We’re talking electro and techno clubbing - on snow.  This is just the second year of the festival at the popular resort of Verbier. The main stage is situated on The Mouton Noir in the middle of the slopes and other free stages surround it. Polaris is the festival for techno junkies with headliners like: Richie Hawtin, Dixon, Carl Craig, Lil’ Louis, Moodymann and a whole lot more spread over 3 days.

Though still in its infancy Polaris is already reputed with some of the best parties on snow and what better way to warm up to the silly season than by getting royally smashed and sweaty in the snow.

Tickets can be purchased through Festlane and this is a strictly 18+ event.

Rise

Les Deux Alpes, France

December 10-17 2016

rise festival 2016

What are we talking?

We’re talking a full on week of powder partying. Rise is a festival that gives you everything you could ask for just £200. That’s a whole week of music plus a 6-day lift pass all wrapped up. This is very much an all decks on board festival with DJs and spin masters Seth Troxler, Kano, Jackmaster, Richy Ahmed, Bondax, Monki, Artwork and a whole lot more.

Rise is packed with activities to break up the rave – enjoy a stein at the German beer market, get your skate on in the ice disco or take in a spa treatment if you’re that way inclined. The festival is surrounded by Christmas lights and Christmas festivities in a non-stop lead up to the week of presents and over indulgence. There are an abundance of clubs and venues, plus yoga to revive your senses and awaken the snow spirit within.

And don’t forget your board because L2A has some of best most rideable pistes going around and is home to the largest skiable Glacier in Europe. L2A also boasts a legendary freestyle park for anyone who wants to get tricky.

They’ve pretty much thought of everything at Rise so all you need to do is book those tickets.
